Steve in Melbourne

Good training today. Four laps around the lake in Albert Park. Warm but overcast. They are busy setting up for the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix which takes place a week after the Games finish, so most of the park was out of bounds. The road/racetrack is really narrow - it's no wonder there isn't much overtaking.
Blagged our way into the swimming pool. What a facility - it looks amazing empty, so it's bound to be fantastic full. I got cramp climbing the steps to the top row of seats it was so high.
Back on the bus, then a quick lunch (hmm, noodles and swordfish) before tagging along to a bike race with the cycling team. 170 riders raced around a 3km motor-racing circuit for an hour plus three laps. All four Manxies rode well and it was a deemed a succesful outing.
I've entered the 5000m walk at the Telstra Track Meeting on Thursday evening. It looks from the entry list that it will be a fast race, so it will save me doing a rep. session.

  • The entry list for the 5000m track
race has been posted on the racewalk group - no wonder A.C has decided not to enter!
Good luck and keep us posted.

  • Have you studied the form of your competitors or are you just concentrating on you own race?
